Cafe Gabriela was founded in 2010 by Penny Baldado, a formerly undocumented, queer immigrant from the Philippines. Centered and inspired by the courage and actions of Gabriela Silang, a Filipina revolutionary who led a revolt against the Spanish colonizers.
