Events can be confusing. One moment, you’re excited to be holding a celebration – or a symposium – or a launch; the next, you’re deluged with questions and requests for details. Most people don’t bring together dozens or hundreds of people on a daily basis. How do you make everyone feel special and the whole thing run smoothly? That’s where an event planner comes in, and where EJP Events makes a difference.

As inclusive and sustainable event professionals, we offer much more than the average party planner. Our team is made up of Certified Meeting Professionals, designers, and hospitality industry veterans. From initial design, to helping you form the budget, following up with all service providers, and then being there to manage the event, we take care of you and your guests. You’ll be less stressed and enjoy your event so much more, and so will your attendees!


About the Owner

While working at a microbiology lab at the University of Texas at Austin, Emee Pumarega stumbled on a weekend job at Green Pastures Restaurant (now called Mattie’s.) Between supporting senior catering managers at grand weddings, then dashing back to the lab for recombinant DNA experiments; she discovered a love for precise work, wearing multiple hats, and helping people in stressful situations.

Emee soon left the university, feeling she belonged behind the scenes at momentous events, not behind a lab bench. She continued at Green Pastures for 3 years, having been promoted to Director of Catering; followed by work at Doubletree/Hilton Austin, where she was Director of Conference Services, and also named Manager of the Year. A desire for variety led her to open an event planning business, EJP Events, in 1999. In 2002, EJP Events was moved to Portland, Oregon.

In our modern, multicultural world, you will have attendees of every country, ethnicity and race. Even events that appear straightforward can feel fraught with complication when you don’t have an experienced guide. Emee believes a logical brain and empathetic heart, as well as her combined experiences of working in research, hospitality, and living across multiple cultures, help her to be a caring wedding and event professional who can analyze, empathize, and anticipate every angle of the event experience for a successful and spectacular event.

Emee holds a degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and the Certified Meeting Professional designation from the Events Industry Council.
