Our boxes recreate the “pasalubong” experience of receiving a gift or care package from someone to let you know that they’re thinking of you. Of course, you can never go wrong with treating yourself with an element of surprise. Each box gives a nostalgic feel to those who have left the Philippines to pursue a life in the US, it also helps connect younger generations to what their parents or grandparents grew up eating, lastly it’s a way for people who are not familiar with Filipino food a taste of it. You don’t know how much a piece of chocnut means to someone who is living thousands of miles away from home.
A small part of our earnings benefit a couple of non-profits based in the Bay Area that are geared towards providing services to families and people with special needs. This is a small tribute to my brother who was diagnosed within the spectrum when he was younger. It takes a village to care for someone who has special needs and these non-profits help equip families and students by providing training, events, and a sense of community.
My dream is for Filiflavors to be an instrument in providing Filipino food representation and also providing awareness, resources, and opportunities for people with Autism.
